Are you wanting something deeper? Longing for a change? Needing to mark a new commitment? Seeking vision, clarity, or a new fortitude? There is not always a clear path and it can be challenging to take the leap. Knowing when you yourself have transitioned from one life stage to the next, is sometimes elusive. At these times, it can be hugely transformative to enlist community support, devote time for self-reflection, and consult the ageless voice of wild nature.
This modern-day vision fast engages one’s entire being, requiring each person to strongly claim their whole Self. It is a challenging, nourishing, insightful time in the expansive desert, where a trained team will create a strong container in which you can claim the transformation and discovery you wish for yourself. You will be joined by a circle of people from varying backgrounds and given a chance to be listened to deeply.
The Adult Vision Fast is inclusive of all genders. Different than our gender specific fasts, topics—and therefore learnings—about gender and between genders are common. It is a ten-day, journey of Nature, Spirit, and Community, including three days and nights in which participants fast in solitude. The initial four days are focused on your physical, psychological, and spiritual preparation for your fast. The middle days are devoted to your vision fast. The final days help you intentionally integrate your experience in the desert in order to move forward in your life back home.
When you know there is something more being asked of you from this life, when you are seeking vision, when you are clear that you need to make a change or redefine who you are, then a vision fast can be right for you.

About Cascadia Quest Vision Fasts
2021 Adult Vision Fast Participants in Oregon
Cascadia Quest vision fasts are usually ten days long and follow an ancient and well-tested pattern. The three phases are:
Severance- Leaving behind or severing from what or who one was. The seminal work of this phase is to clarify and claim who one is NOW, in this time and place.
Threshold- The "in-between time". The challenge or trial. A two (youth) or three (adult) day solo fast. Three restrictions: no food (water only), no indoor shelter i.e. tent (fully available to wild nature), no other humans (solo).* The fasting ceremony.
Incorporation- Taking on the new body or self. The process of understanding and living into the gifts of the prior two phases. Bringing it into the body of the person and the community. Incorporation is the final three days of the vision fast, and continues for a full year.
Following this ancient, pancultural content we strive to provide an experience that is relevant, meaningful, and authentic to us in this place and this time. By "us" we mean the Euro-Afro-Hispano-Asian-Other-mongrel mix that now overwhelmingly inhabits Cascadia (the Pacific Northwest) and the U.S.A. We respect the ceremonies of traditional peoples, and specifically do not do a Native American vision quest (e.g. Lakota "Hanblecheya").
Our vision fasts are a modern-day, nature-based rite of passage, a ritual or ceremony that marks the passing from one life stage to the next. Vision fast, rite of passage, ceremony of transition, marking of maturation are other ways of naming or conceiving this ancient, distinctly human, and, we believe, necessary experience.
